Attendees of today’s Collegium of Montenegro Parliament Speaker have agreed to hold a sitting in a virtual format on 24 November and form a new government. MPs tested positive for the coronavirus will thus be able to vote online.
Mr Aleksa Bečić, the Parliament Speaker, has stressed that all heads of caucuses came up with the same conclusions.
“We set up a working group that is going to determine the proposal for the decision on amendments to the Rules of Procedure by the end of the week, having in mind the coronavirus crisis. The next session of the Collegium, scheduled for Tuesday, will define the final version of that decision, after which I’m going to convene the Parliament’s sitting for 23 November in Cetinje, with the agenda point referring to the proposal for the decision on amending the Rules of Procedure. The sitting of the Parliament to form the new government will be held on 24 November in Podgorica,” Mr Bečić told reporters.
As the number of MPs infected with the virus has been rising, after exchanging opinions, they came up with the single conclusion – it’s best to create formal preconditions, that is, the working group should prepare amendments to the Rules of Procedure by the end of the week, after which follow two sittings, one in Cetinje and one in Podgorica.
They’re doing all this, according to him, so that Montenegro can get the new government.
Head of the DPS caucus, Mr Danijel Živković, has noted that they [DPS] are not going to derail the work of the Parliament especially given that some of their colleagues had tested positive for the coronavirus.
