PHOTO: CZIP marked the European weekend of bird watching by bird ringing

“Chance to see the process of ringing was given to 20 students form the ecological section of the elementary school “Radojica Perovic”, and they were soon joined by students from other schools who came with their parents. After everyone was introduced to the phenomenon of migration and reasons for ringing the birds, they had a chance to see how this is done in practice, which cause a particular interest and joy among the children”, it was said from CZIP.

Within the event they also painted 30 houses for nesting of the hawks, which are a donation from CGES.

“First houses will be put on power lines on the road Pluzine – Pljevlja, and first setting up of the houses will be done on Thursday the 15th of October. Considering that the setting up of the houses was planned to be far from the rocks and traditional places where these birds usually nest, we are expecting nesting of all types of hawks in Montenegro, as well as some types of owls”, it was said in the statement.

They warned that hawks in Montenegro are at the brink of extinction and the reason for this is illegal hunting and eggs stealing.

European weekend of bird watching is traditionally marked all around Europe by organizing more than a thousand events. After event organization all results are sent to European center – EuroBird Watch. Last year 38 countries in Europe and Central Asia participated in organization of 1.184 events with more than 33.000 people who participated in bird watching and birds protection.
