Projections based on the analyses carried out so far show that the branch of Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) which passes across the Montenegrin territory would cost 120 million EUR, reports the Ministry of Economy.
IAP is just one part of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is going to be the part of Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline ( TANAP). This pipeline is planned to transmit gas from Azerbaijan across Turkey, Greece and Albania all the way to Italy.
“At this particular moment, it’s very early to say what the manners and sources of financing will be, but Montenegro, just like other Western Balkans countries, expects significant support from international financial institutions and the EU, considering that this project is important for the entire Europe”, reports the Ministry.
The beginning of the implementation of this project depends on many factors and Montenegro can’t influence them.
“The conceptual design is currently being developed and it’s expected to last two years. After that, if the four countries through which the pipeline is planned to go across get the financial support from the international institutions, the construction will begin”, said the representatives of Ministry.
