The DF requested and was given permission to organize protests by gathering in front of the Parliament, which meant closing off of one of the busiest streets in Podgorica.
However, the participants and organizers of the protest last night left this location and walked down the main street in downtown Podgorica – Ulica Slobode – to the Republic Square and back, which is in contradiction with the permission sought and granted.
“We will file charges against the organizers, because the protest walk is considered another form of protest gathering, and the one for which they did not ask nor receive permission. For this form of protest, a new permit in accordance with the Law on Public Gatherings must be requested”, police told the daily.
At last night’s protest, which according to police estimates gathered around 600 people, protesters repeated the same demands and announced protest walks in Podgorica and other municipalities in Montenegro.
According to DN sources, several dozen citizens slept in the tents erected on the street in front of the Parliament building last night. They are reportedly sleeping in shifts, and receiving financial compensation to do so. The tariff is allegedly 50 euros per night.
