Proposal of nine EU member states is good response to French ‘non’

Momčilo Radulović

A proposal for the new methodology of the EU enlargement which was recently brought before the European Commission (EC) by nine EU member states, represents a policy that considers the enlargement as the most successful policy the EU has ever had, but also an extraordinary counterbalance to the realization of the French proposal, Mr Momčilo Radulović, a leader of the European Movement, said.

In an interview with Pobjeda daily, he assessed that the proposal drawn up by Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia, Italy and Malta represented a powerful opposition to the French non-paper on the reform of EU.

“The document represents a comprehensive and meaningful policy that promotes fundamental values of the EU towards the enlargement.”

He continued: “Every enlargement process before went hand in hand with the reforms in the EU itself. All enlargement processes happened alongside the reforms of the European institutions and relations within the EU. I don’t see why that should not be the case again.”
