The leader of the Rodina party and MP in the Russian Duma, Aleksey Zuravlyev, called on Montenegrin authorities to “cease the political prosecution of DF leaders”.
Zuravlyev said at his party’s congress that he requested the prosecution of Milan Knezevic and Andrija Mandic, falsely accused of taking part in the state coup attempt, to stop.
Rodina party’s founder and financier is Dmitry Rogozin, Russian deputy prime minister and one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s associates.
He said that Knezevic and Mandic were being prosecuted for standing against Montenegrin NATO membership and advocating strong relations with Russia.
