Ruling coalition in Budva derailed voting over Carević’s dismissal

The ruling coalition in Budva, comprising the Democratic Front (DF), the Democratic Montenegro, the Civic Movement URA and the Social Democratic Party, did not adhere to legal obligations and literally opened the door for the Kotor scenario. Namely, councilors of the parties in power in Budva didn’t decide on the dismissal of the president of that Municipality, Mr Marko Carević, within deadline and were obliged to do so until midnight. Councilors intentionally derailed the discussion and played a waiting game so in the end, the voting didn’t take place and the deadline expired.

When the councilors of the DPS, the Crnogorska party and the independent councilor, Mr Stevan Džaković, figured out that the discussion won’t end by midnight, they simply left. In the end, the president of the Municipal Assembly, Mr Krsto Radović, had to interrupt the sitting and reschedule it for 29 June, as there was no quorum present.

As for the sitting itself, the objects of Mr Carević’s verbal attacks were quite many of councilors – primarily Mr Džaković, whom he called a thief, freak, cheater, prostitute… and he even used violent language while speaking about the Džaković family…

Having in mind a heated debate the councilors had yesterday, today’s sitting was supervised by the police all the time.
