Moscow has reserved the right to respond to Montenegro’s hostile actions, Russian Foreign Ministry said in its comment on the formal completion of the process of accession of Montenegro to NATO.
“Russia also regrets the continuing anti-Russian hysteria in Montenegro. Russia reserves the right to take counter-measures on the basis of reciprocity amid the Montenegrin authorities’ hostile stance,” the press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
Russian diplomats also said they believe it Podgorica solely responsible for the worsening of relations.
“After Montenegro joined the EU anti-Russian measures in March 2014, Russia has taken reciprocal measures in August 2015,” the statement said.
Montenegro has officially become a member of NATO.
