Russia’s interfering with Montenegrin elections was obvious before, says foreign minister Srdjan Darmanovic, commenting on the chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic’s statement that the Russian state authorities were involved in the attempted coup on 16 October.
“Russia’s interfering from various positions with Montenegrin elections was obvious before. In today’s world, such interference is not specific only for Montenegro. The very prosecutor has not specified the positions the interference came from, we need to be patient and wait for what will the judicial process show,” Darmanovic said at a press conference at the Gorica Villa after a meeting with Estonian counterpart Sven Mikser.
On the other hand, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said that the allegations on Russia’s involvement in the coup had no basis in reality, since, as he said, these claims were not supported by evidence.
