Sad reality: Once by plane to European cities, now nowhere, only to Belgrade soon

The Montenegrin reality is sad when it comes to its air connection with the rest of the world. Montenegro used to have direct flights to and from Rome, Vienna, Zurich, Frankfurt, Paris, Moscow, London, Ljubljana, Lyon, etc. They were covered by the then national airline Montenegro Airlines. New destinations have been planned for this year – Kiev, Istanbul, Lisbon and Prague. However, Montenegro Airlines was closed down, and the Government headed by PM Zdravko Krivokapić has set up a new company – ToMontenegro.

Today, on 26 May 2021, a prestigious tourist destination, a candidate country for EU membership, a NATO member, does not have any routes. It will have it only on 10 June, when ToMontenegro’s (Air Montenegro’s) plane is to take off for Belgrade.

Ticket sales began2 days ago, as announced by the company.

Air traffic expert and aviation analyst Alen Šćuric has told CdM that this is a bad situation and that it is a political project.
