Seafarers put into quarantine in Vučje now say conditions are satisfactory. After they complained, they even got separate rooms.
Ombudsman, Mr Siniša Bjeković and Assistant Minister of Health, Ms Vesna Miranović, paid a visit to the seafarers in quarantine yesterday.
Second engineer officer, Mr Vaso Penda, said for CdM that separate accommodation had been approved, as requested.
“And we’ve got one hour to go out of the rooms, because they have no balconies”, Mr Penda says.
Everything they lamented was arranged.
Mr Penda had one important message.
“We are going to keep fighting to make sure we don’t go to quarantine from the ship. We want to be tested and go home”, Mr Penda pointed out.
He said that Ms Miranović and Mr Bjeković had approved many of seafarers’ requests.
Addressing issues in a systemic way
On a proposal of Mr Duško Markoivć, the Government formed Coordination Body for Seafarers.
With the aim of encompassing questions related to seafarers in as comprehensive way as possible, Government has acknowledged the need to address issues related to seafarers’ improvement and status in a systemic way.
Coordination Body is tasked with proposing solutions for issues referring to measures to be taken in relation to seafarers when the return to Montenegro during the period of the pandemic, revising criteria and ways of control of education institutions dealing with seafarers, harmonizing competences of ministries, developing programs of employment of seafaring trainees, inlcuding seafarers in the national system of social and health protection and considering possible amendments to tax policy.
The Coordination Body is authorized to propose solutions for other issues that might arise during the activities of the Body. President of the Coordination Body is Mr Milutin Simović, vice-president of the Government. Members are representatives of the Seafarers’ union, Union of Naval Captains and Association of agencies dealing with job placement of seafarers.
