Galip, who was previously a councellor in Turkish government, will replace Mehmet Niyazi Tanilir whose mandate as an ambassador has expired. Tanilir was the ambassador of Turkey in Montenegro since June of 2012.
In the duration of his diplomatic misson, economic cooperation between two countries made significant progress. Turkish company Global Ports Holding became the majority owner of container terminal and general loads in Bar, Istanbul stock exchange became co-owner of Montenegrin stock exchange, and Ziraat bank, the biggest Turkish bank owned by the country, got a license to open the bank in Montenegro.
Also, during Tanilir’s diplomatic mission, Turkish agency for international cooperation and coordination TIKA realized numerous projects in Montenegro.
During his goodbye visit, Tanilir received a medal for contributions by the president of Montenegro Mr. Filip Vujanovic.
