Pobjeda wrote on Thursday that DPS pledged to accept the transformation of Tuzi to a completely independent municipality, like Petnjica and Gusinje, via an annex to the agreement between DPS and Forca to be signed by the end of June.
Siništaj, however, said there’s no need to make any further agreements or restart the matters already in parliamentary procedure.
“The Law on Amendments to the Law on Territorial organization has been in the parliamentary procedure since 2012”, Siništaj underscored.
He added it is also necessary to organize a referendum, as was done in the case of municipalities Petnjica and Gusinje.
An official of the Democratic Union of Albanians, Mehmet Bardhi, emphasized the entire thing eventually hinges on the political will of the ruling majority.
“Our program clearly states Tuzi and Malesia should be full-fledged municipalities. So what is the holdup of the government? They want Albanians to start fleeing until there are no Albanians left. Ever since the formation of their program, DPS planned for Malesia to be an independent municipality. We requested talks and we talked with the authorities. Laws have been amended, legislation established, and then municipalities with half as conditions as Malesia were granted the full-fledged status, because once again, such was the political will of the ruling majority”, concluded Bardhi.
Sinistaj said it was symptomatic that the issue of the independent municipality of Tuzi is reopened every time new election in about to happen in Montenegro.
“It started in 1997. There is no need to make any further agreements and annexes, but to execute what has already been agreed and signed; papers are waiting in the Parliament, and the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget has already given their positive opinion. Should the parliamentary majority accept the changes, the only thing left to do would be to comply certain laws to the Constitution, like the Law on Territorial Organization, local government, local government financing and the capital city”, said Siništaj.
