The Montenegrin Culture Centre in Vrbas has submitted a formal request to Montenegro’s Ministry of Diaspora, seeking permission to sublease a property at 47 Marsala Tita Street in Vrbas for its activities.
In the request, sent on 29 July 2025, the Centre emphasised the need for a functional space to host cultural events, literary and educational programmes, community gatherings, and initiatives promoting Montenegrin identity in Serbia. The Centre represents 14 diaspora associations and serves as the umbrella organisation for the Montenegrin community in Serbia, particularly in Vojvodina.
The property in question, known as the Montenegrin House in Vrbas, was originally leased in 2019 by Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the government from MK Mountain Resort Ltd. Kopaonik. It had been used for consular events and cultural outreach to the diaspora.
However, during a government session on 24 July 2025, Montenegro’s Cabinet decided to terminate the existing sublease agreement. The Ministry of Diaspora has been tasked with preparing new documentation and a proposal for subleasing the space to diaspora associations. This proposal will be submitted to the government for final approval.
