Representatives of the Government of Montenegro presented today at Villa Gorica the long-awaited Europe Now 2 programme and the Fiscal Strategy. Salaries will be increased as of 1 October 2024. The average salary in Montenegro will be €1,000. The minimum salary for those having finished high school will be €600, while for those with university degree it will be €800. Pensions, except for the minimum one, will be increased by 7%-8% as of January. The VAT rate remains at 21%, and the unified VAT for the catering sector will be 15%. At the press conference, in addition to the representatives of the Government, there were also representatives of the New Serbian Democracy and the Democratic People’s Party, who said they supported the Government and the Fiscal Strategy.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said at a media conference at Villa Gorica that the average salary in Montenegro would soon be €1,000, and that the average minimum wage would be €700.
All pensioners will have their pensions increased as of January 2025 by an average of 7% or 8%, Spajic announced, stressing that this did not apply to minimum pensions.
The reduction of the tax burden on wages as the main fiscal cost for the employer is carried out through lower contributions for pension disability insurance.
“Contributions for the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO) at the expense of the employee will go down from 15% to 10%. Contributions for PIO at the expense of the employer will decline from 5.5% to 0%”, stated Spajic.
