Head of the Police Directorate Zoran Brdjanin does not enjoy the trust of any member of the 44th Government, PM Milojko Spajic has stated. He has added that today the government reached three conclusions about the announced dismissal of Brdjanin and that it instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Saranovic to prepare the necessary procedure by Monday in order to replace the current police director.
“We essentially all agree that Minister Saranovic should take over the temporary coordination of the police, but the lex specialis prohibits a politically active person in that position. Just before obtaining IBAR, it is important that everything we do, we do transparently and it is very important that we consult with the European Commission and see how we can get out of this. It is not normal that the director of the police does not have the support of the Government”, Spajic points out. “Coordination with the European Commission is important, regarding advice on how to get out of some situations. By obtaining the Interim Benchmarks Assessment Report (IBAR), Montenegro leaves the Balkan quagmire, and no one should jeopardize that. I will not allow the obtaining of IBAR to be compromised. They told us that no important decisions should be made without consulting the European Commission”, Spajic has stressed.
Spajic has said that the work of the police must be independent.
Speaking about the exclusion of Justice Minister Andrej Milovic from the Europe Now Movement, Spajic has said that Chapters 23 and 24 are priorities.
Asked to comment on the fact that President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic had left the Europe Now Movement, Spajic said he had no comment.
