With regard to the forthcoming session of the Defense and Security Council of Montenegro, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic’s office has informed the public about the current situation and difficulties regarding the session.

“The Constitution of Montenegro clearly determines that the Defense and Security Council comprises the president of Montenegro, the parliament speaker and prime minister, who are being tasked with appointment, promotion and dismissal of officers of the Army of Montenegro. The agenda of tomorrow’s session of the council has certain proposals regarding the status of the officer of the Army of Montenegro and we consider that it’s important to get a thorough justification of the defense minister and that the minister should attend the mentioned session which was paused last time,” it was said in a statement of PM Spajic’s office.

In addition, having mind the importance and the specificity of the proposal, the Prime Minister suggested the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro should also attend the session, as his professional opinion would be of paramount importance for making responsible decisions.

“As tomorrow’s session of the council represents the continuation of the session from 11 October, the proposal of the government is to continue with it in the same way. Unfortunately, according to available data, the President of Montenegro do not agree that they should attend it thus undermining the fundamental principle of transparency and quality decision making of the council.”
