Special State Prosecutor’s Office working in August as well

Special State Prosecutor’s Office will not enjoy yearly vacations in August, as the rest of the state administration. They need to finalize investigations in numerous cases, Dnevne Novine daily writes.

Aside from special prosecutors lead by Milivoje Katnic, four more were brought in from other offices. Council of Prosecutors decided to send three more prosecutors to work in the Special State Prosecutor’s Office from August 1st to September 1st.

SSP confirmed that they would not be taking vactions. They have made 15 special charges, and five more are in the final stages of investigation. Cases that are being finalized pertain to Budva municipality, “Akva Park”, “Rusko selo”, “Vrtić”, “Šetalište u Petrovcu”, “Cabling Company”, “Alijanz stori doo Budva”, “Sportski tereni na Jazu”. These cases include former high official of DPS Svetozar Marovic, as well as former mayors of Budva Rajko Kuljaca and Lazar Radjenovic, and their former associates.

Aside from Budva cases, cases “Delta”, “Carine”, “Domen.me”, and “Verige” are also nearing their end in investigation. Investigations “Haj Nehaj”, “Kajman”, “JP Morsko dobro”, “Centar za socijalni rad Rožaje” and “Porodiljska odsustva” are also ongoing.

The most recent case in the SSP is that of Italian company A2A, that has its shares frozen in EPCG.

Last year, SSP initiated investigations on corruption against 43 perpetrators. After investigations, 26 individuals were convicted, and 18 pleaded guilty. Most punishments are that of jail, while some include monetary fines. Total taken property in these cases was around 23 million EUR, and 32 thousand went to charity.
