Stankovic: There is no reason to attend the sitting

Chief state prosecutor Ivica Stankovic will not attend the Parliament sitting in which lifting Nebojsa Medojevic’s immunity will be discussed. The sitting will take place on 29 June.

Stankovic told Dan newspaper there was neither basis nor reason for him to attend the Parliament sitting in which decision would be made on the chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic’s request for lifting Medojevic’s immunity.

The Administrative Committee suggested on Monday that the Parliament lift Medojevic’s immunity upon the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office’s (SDT) request.

Special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic suspects Medojevic of organizing criminal group to launder money, along with a businessman from Bosnia-Herzegovina Momir Nikolic.

At a sitting full of harsh words and insults, all Committee members voted for lifting Medojevic’s immunity – Luigj Shkrelja (DPS), Adrian Vuksanovic (HGI), Marta Scepanovic (DPS), Milorad Vuletic (DPS), Branko Cavor (DPS), Bogdan Fatic (DPS), Ana Nikolic (DPS).

For now it is not known whether the Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic would invite special state prosecutor to attend the session.
