The decision of the Council of the Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) to remove Andrijana Kadija from her office as a Director of RTCG undermines the freedom of media, whose reform and integrity are crucial for the integration of Montenegro into the Euro – Atlantic community, says the American State Department.
“The USA is very disappointed with the dismissal of Andrijana Kadija. Montenegro has to do more in order to protect the freedom of the media and editorial independence of its public broadcasting service”, it’s said in the report.
The formal reason for this was the contract Kadija signed with the Center for Civic Education and which, allegedly, allowed some interventions into the policy of the public service.
Kadija said that the she was guilty of being “apolitical” and that’s all.
