Damir Suljevic, a program associate at the Center for Civic Education and a member of the State Election Commission, has explained to Pobjeda that it is up to the Ministry of the Interior to determine whether the leader of the Europe Now movement and the party’s candidate for the presidential elections has resided in Montenegro for at least 10 years in the last 15 years, which is a condition for him to be elected president of Montenegro.
“If, based on the records, the Ministry of Internal Affairs determines that Spajic has a residence requirement and issues a certificate to that effect, and if the other requested documentation and signatures of support are in order, the conditions for candidacy can be considered fulfilled”, Suljevic has pointed out.
Spajic CV, which is available on the official website of the Europe Now movement, clearly states that he returned to Montenegro in 2020, and that until then, since finishing school, he had worked in Tokyo and Singapore.
This means that Spajic’s candidacy depends on whether, since he lived and worked abroad for years, he had a registered residence in Montenegro during that period or whether he deregistered it.
