Social partners are continuously refusing to give their consent for the abolition of Sundays off, and for that reason, the government won’t make decision on this matter, the Ministry of Economic Development told the CdM portal. However, social partners for now don’t intend to agree on it.
This topic has become a matter of intense public interest following a decline in the economic activity caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the wish of businessmen to increase it as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Economic Development started to deal with the matter in December last year, but no one supported them back then.
In March 2021, the session of the Social Council’s management discussed Sundays off and the ministry proposed to set up a working group, but it was fruitless.
A consensus among social partners hasn’t been reached for a half a year already.
