“Bread and arrests”
I’ve borrowed the headline from a man but having in mind that our interpretation of it somewhat differs I wouldn’t mention his name in order to avoid any unnecessary misunderstanding. Panem et circences was a practice used by Roman rulers to keep the general population sedated in order to govern the public matters without any hindrance. The deputy prime minister is still building up the image of an authoritarian master of freedom and incarceration in Montenegro so he celebrated on Twitter the arrest of his fellow citizen and mayor of Ulcinj, Mr Ljoro Nrekić. Even though he has an undying wish to present himself as an authoritative figure he managed to obtain one of a braggart. Mr Nrekić was not arrested on the account of corruption but on the account of employing people based on the political party qualification, said by Mr Krivokapic’s deputy. Mr Dejan Milovac from MANS reminded that the aforementioned accusations do not classify as criminal offence and that DPM Abazovic with his drama on Twitter became boring even to the people who had any hopes left that URA might be a corrective factor of this government. The leader of the civil society, Ms Jovana Marovic, stated on Twitter that the incumbent government could arrest itself on the same accounts. This was the opinion that prevailed on general population social media. All in all, these people are right – in the given moment when the government is ferociously criticized because of the particracy, the government is bragging about arresting people on the accounts of the same thing. Luckily, the civil society in Montenegro is proving its resistance and toughness and manages to make a difference between Mr Abazovic’s charlantry and the serious will to reform Montenegro.
Mr Nrekić was released and Mr Medojevic used this opportunity to entertain the general population by repeating the joke he already used in Mr Branislav Micunovic case “arrest, kiss and release”.
The Session of the National Security Council
The president of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, will preside the session of the Defense and Security Council which will be held today in villa “Gorica” in Podgorica. Apart from the regular and current topics, it is expected to continue the cohabitation conversation with the emphasis of the unconstitutional behavior of the Minister of Defense.
Dusk of diplomacy
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will check the reasons because of which the ambassadors didn’t return to Montenegro by January the 18th and shall set in motion disciplinary procedures in cases where there was no justifiable reason for not returning on time.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs states, in the interlude of planning the protest against the opposition, that a number of ambassadors has to be chosen through the political channels because “our country is small. Maybe he should send Mr Medojevic to Washington?
The case of Vesna Bratić che…cypress.
Minister Bratic visited Bar to mark the anniversary of protests against the cutting down of old cypress trees in order to build a kindergarten, the only protest that actually managed to enlighten the civil awareness both locally and on the state level. Ms Bratic commended the motion for “lighting the spark of civil awareness”. However, Ms Bratic wouldn’t be Ms Bratic if she didn’t use the situation to promote the fascist trolls from Facebook whose logo was on the t-shirt of one of present professors from Bar. No, it is not Ms Rada Visnjic, it appears that there are more of them like that over there. The speech that Minister gave in Bar was an object of mockery online.
Miko Živković
Mr Miko Živković, the former LSCG leader and one of the founders of the Initiative 21. May is being very active on Facebook where he, on daily basis, makes comments about the political situation in country. Yesterday he made a comment about the fact that the government wants to please the church at any cost and that by doing so it loses the focus on economic problems our society is facing.
