Recommendations of tourism experts around the world are that domestic tourism should be the main driver of the economic recovery from Covid. However, the Balkan countries are not large enough and the standard is low, so the recovery cannot rely on domestic tourism. That’s why it’s necessary to treat regional tourism as domestic, and perceive the entire region as a whole in terms of tourism recovery, a member of the WTN (World Tourism Network) executive committee and president of the WTN for the Balkans, Ms Aleksandra Gardašević Slavuljica, has said during the online conference ‘Future of Tourism in the Balkans’.
Director of Albania National Tourism Agency, Ms Kornelia Ferizaj, has emphasized that the Balkan countries are so small, and so close and similar, that they should merge the offer of Balkan tourism and promote it on the markets of Western Europe, and later on, distant destinations, such as China.
“We need to create related programs and highlight the possibility that one tourist trip gives an opportunity to visit multiple countries,” believes Ms Pfizer.
A representative of the Croatian tourism, Ms Branka Musić, has tackled difficulties that Croatia has been facing, and stressed massive support they are getting from the government.
President of the WTN, Mr Juergen Steinmetz, has said he’s fascinated with the beauties of the Balkan countries and believed that it [Balkans] should be in the spotlight of the international tourism.
