Vice-president of the Montenegrin Government, Zoran Pažin, and Director of the Peace Corps, Dr. Jody Olsen, signed today the Memorandum of Cooperation so that the U.S volunteers can provide support in the education of the young from Montenegro.
Mr Pažin assessed that the engagement of the Peace Corps volunteers in Montenegro would significantly boost the quality of the English language knowledge in the Montenegrin elementary and high schools, especially in the north of the country. During the meeting with Ms Olsen he noted that the program itself represented another confirmation of the partnership, support and friendship of the U.S. Govt and people with Montenegro and its citizens.
“We perceive the engagement of the U.S. volunteers as another important opportunity for both nations to broaden their experience and knowledge by making friendships based on mutual trust and values,” noted Mr Pažin.
Ms Olsen continued: “Today’s signing of the Memorandum confirmed close friendship between the United States and Montenegro. It represents the confirmation of our commitment to the joint vision of brighter future for Montenegro and its neighbors in the Western Balkans.”
The first group of 12 volunteers is supposed to come to Montenegro next year, and based on needs, their number will be gradually increasing.
