The meeting, which was held yesterday at the Commercial Court, was also attended by the President of the Court Blazo Jovanic and the Bankruptcy Judge of Bauxite Mines Mladen Markovic. Pejovic said he would respect all the rights of employees, including increasing their salaries, providing meal allowances and early retirement benefits.
As he pointed out, production in the Bauxite Mines was to begin in ten days, and initially 25-30 workers would be engaged.
After the meeting, Pejovic told Dnevne Novine daily that “Uniprom Metali” was also planning to start production in the Stitovo pit.
“Before starting the production in the Stitovo pit, we must rehabilitate and prepare the premises, in order to enable normal working conditions for workers. We will engage six to ten workers at the start until the appropriate infrastructure is made, then we will employ a greater number of people. As for the storage and shipment of ore, we will employ 10-15 workers for that,” Pejovic said.
He stressed that during the meeting it was concluded that all equipment of the Mines had been destroyed and that adequate protection at work must be provided for workers.
As he said, “Uniprom Metali” was negotiating with a Turkish company to have its representatives visit pits of the Bauxite Mines. After evaluating the offer, they would go on ore exploitation, respecting all the rules.
After the meeting, the representative of the Independent Trade Union of the Bauxite Mines Nikola Zugic said that workers were satisfied with the meeting because Pejovic promised to respect all the rights of employees.
