Vijesti continue to create negative image of President Đukanović

Milo Đukanović

New analyses related to the media focus on Montenegro officials showed that in case of the country’s leader, Mr Milo Đukanović, nothing has changed in Vijesti media group (newspaper, TV and portal) publishing routine. The trends remain the same – they keep creating negative image of the President of Montenegro by carefully choosing their material, writing articles, posting images and cruel caricatures.

Over the past year, Vijesti media group published 3.327 information about President Đukanović, of which 2.133 were negative in tone and only 434 were positive. The rest were neutral in tone and referred to protocalary activities of the President.

In the first three months of this year (January, February and March), the analysis of a renowned agency that has been continuously monitoring the media presence of Montenegrin officials and representatives of political parties, showed a slight decrease in the number of mentions of President Đukanović due to the coronavirus pandemic. But even in the time of the coronavirus, Vijesti continued to create negative image of the President.

And here are the data: in January, February and March, Mr Đukanović was mentioned in 850 articles/reports of Vijesti, of which 510 were negative in tone, and only 131 were positive. The rest were neutral in tone and referred to his protocolary activities.
