Vukovic: Krivokapic’s dangerous manipulations

Vuković

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Miodrag Vukovic warned about, as he put it, Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Ranko Krivokapic’s dangerous political manipulations. In an interview with Dnevne Novine, he said that Krivokapic was persistent in pushing for negotiations between the opposition and the government, instead of the strongest political party’s leader Milo Djukanovic.

“While everyone from the opposition speaks about the crisis in Montenegro caused by illegitimate elections, about the need to reach an agreement on conditions for holding snap general elections through non-institutional dialogue, about all this as a condition for ending the boycott and returning to parliament, SDP leader Ranko Krivokapic, at least for the time being, persistently repeats that “the government must agree to negotiate with the opposition,” Vukovic says.

He adds that the order of the moves to resolve the crisis in Montenegro must be agreed on during the talks.

“Krivokapic constantly repeats that he will not talk with the DPS leader, ‘the owner of this party’, that there is no need to talk to him and the government needs to accept his ‘offered hand’, to open a dialogue with the opposition and create the conditions for solving the political crisis in the country,” Vukovic said.

The DPS MP calls to mind that SDP leader until recently used to point out that the party was creating history along with DPS.

“His biggest and most dangerous manipulation lies in his message that there is no need to talk to DPS and that the government can and must replace the expected,” Vukovic warns.

Vukovic points out that SDP leader and others from the opposition are well aware that the government cannot suspend other institutions, particularly the parliament, as a legislative and political body, in accordance with its constitutional and legal powers.

“I must admit that this manipulation has been is very clever, because in reality he can count on the support of a number of opposition parties, but unfortunately also of  a part of public not engaged in politics and not familiar with political manipulation possibilities for which the SDP leader is obviously skilful and ready for. There are only ‘2-3 minor issues’ he faces in his calculation. First of all, the current government of Montenegro is not a group of ignorant people. Likewise, this is not a political and social environment as it used to be last year when he held the post of parliament speaker and made a similar political manoeuvre, which proved to be a disaster for him and his companions. This time, he is the leader of a party with only four MPs,” Vukovic says.

He said that the opposition got a clear message from the EU officials that any kind of dialogue must take place between the authorities or ruling party and the opposition (not government) and in Parliament.
