“It’s probably not realistic to expect that all Western Balkan (WB) countries would join the EU at the same time, but we must at least push one country forward. I believe Montenegro is definitely a frontrunner and the country that could show the other WB states that accession is achievable and that it’s not merely a declarative position of the European Commission that they will one day become members.
This is what the Slovak Foreign Minister, Juraj Blanár, has assessed in an interview for Pobjeda daily, emphasizing that the commitment of the majority of Montenegrin politicians to EU membership is one of the signs that Montenegro can reach its goal.
“What I noticed is that politicians running this country, the President of Montenegro and Prime Minister, and all those in charge of EU integration, have been fully committed to achieving that goal.”
