Up to €2,000 fine failing to vaccinate children

Kenan Hrapović

The government adopted the Draft Law on the Protection of Population from Infectious Diseases, which stipulates the obligation to conduct health examinations of certain categories of population and vaccination of children against certain infectious diseases.

The Minister of Health, Kenan Hrapovic, explained that the protection of the population from infectious diseases includes planning, programming, organizing, implementing and monitoring the implementation of measures for the prevention, suppression and eradication of infectious diseases, as well as the provision of material and other substances for the protection against these diseases.

He said that the draft law stipulates mandatory vaccination of children against certain infectious diseases.

“So the parent, foster parent or guardian is obliged to provide vaccination to a child of pre-school and school age,” Hrapovic said.

He added that the draft law stipulates €100-€2,000 fines for failing to vaccinate children.
