Lessees invested 9,2 million EUR in agricultural land

On  the basis of the most recently signed state land lease agreements in Briska gora, Ulcinj, Vranovići in Kotor and Golubovci in Podgorica, a total of 9,2 million EUR will be invested and more than 40 workers employed.

According to the data provided by the Commission for valorization of state-owned agricultural land,more than 300 hectares of the land, including the complexes in the municipality of Nikšić, will be valorized through the production and processing.

“The leased land will be valorized in accordance with its potentials, through the production and processing in the area of olive growing, viticulture, vegetable, citrus fruits and herbs growing”, said the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

These projects will also have an effect on the environment, through the valorization of abandoned and burnt land.

As the Ministry points out, growing interest in the lease of state-owned agricultural land is one of the indicators that agriculture in Montenegro is recognized as a chance for profitable business.

“Therefore, we encourage interested investors and agricultural producers to join us in that initiative and to help as contribute to further valorization of unused land resources, not only state-owned but also land in the private ownership, all with the aim of developing agriculture and overall economy”, said the representatives of the Ministry.
