Good Morning!

Peace from God, Christ is born!

Burning the badnjak tree

The fence around the Dvorski trg (Palace Square) is showing Montenegrins the border they are well aware of, and while the PM is sending us a cynical message to knock down the fences in our heads, he is handing over, with the conscious under sedatives, the state to those who would be happier if it weren’t existed.

I could not help writing it on this important day.

The followers of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) burnt the badnjaks in front of the Monastery, and the Montenegrin Orthodox Church (CPC) followers did that in front of the King’s Palace, separated and divided.

PM and MCP administrator, Joanikije, in accordance with their campaign for the local election in Nikšić, burnt the badnjaks in that city.

At one moment, a couple of people lost their patience and pushed the fence in front of the Biljarda. A small group of worshipers with the Crusader flags were not allowed near the Cetinje Monastery.

A Facebook user in Pljevlja bragged on his account about burning Montenegro’s flag. The Police reacted – the gathered citizens said that the flag had not been burnt after all.

Arrest of Brano Mićunović

For a yet unknown reason, Mr Branislav Brano Mićunović was detained in Budva. Interestingly, this is happening on the day when patriotic organizations scheduled a gathering in Cetinje. Mićunović previously attended one of the gatherings in Cetinje. Whether he was going there and whether he was arrested because of the two guns, which were found with his companions in the escort car, no one has told us. Even though this happened during the alleged routine control, Mr Andrija Mandić gave Mr Dritan Abazović a tough task, congratulating him on the arrest. The Deputy Prime Minister did not complain and made a tweet to take credit for this kind of police action that happened thanks to the ANB and police officers. Some investigative journalists from Serbia and activists also used this event to declare Mr Abazović a hero of change, because he had arrested the hitherto untouchable Mićunović. They forgot to mention that Mićunović had been arrested and released during the term of the former government as well. And that right now we do not have accurate and complete information about what exactly he is charged with. Mr Nebojša Medojević commented on Twitter: “Let’s hope that this won’t be like the sports fishermen action: catch-kiss-let go.”

Joanikije’s political statements

If Bishop Joanikije and his words given to the Serbian daily Politika can be trusted, the Serbian church he administers in Montenegro, does not make pressure on the new Government as to the selection of its employees. Yeah, right! He further quarrels with the president of the state, saying that there is no Great Russian imperialism and Greater Serbia nationalism in Montenegro. He did not want to comment on whether he would be the successor of Archbishop Amfilohije. Judging by his popularity, but also by his political narrative, he has all the predispositions for this to happen.

Heart wants one thing, reason wants another

MP Ms Božena Jelušić has already taught us the discipline of moral acrobatics during the parliamentary speech, when she taught us that it is morally ok to listen to one’s party’s voice when the one thinks something is bad, while their party says that it’s not. Ms Jelušić was my teacher at the high school in Budva, and without her pedagogical work, my system of values would be poor and deprived of many lessons in politics and morals, and I say this without a touch of irony. However, Professor Jelušić proves Christ’s words “Therefore, everything that they tell you to hold, hold and create; do not do what they do, because they speak but do not do.” She did it once again yesterday on A1 television, when she said that she would vote for the law again, even though she knows that it could be that the law were not constitutional. We will vote for it, and then we will check its constitutionality, said Ms Jelušić. Mindblowing¸as Americans would say, and what would we say, I better not say.

So much for today. Enjoy this day with the wish that the message of the happiest Christian holiday will bring us more optimism for the time to come. We read you tomorrow at the same time.
