They burn writers in Herceg Novi. It’s what they did at the carnival earlier today in that town – they burned the effigy of Andrej Nikolaidis, the writer and CdM columnist.
Mr Nikolaidis greeted Herceg Novi residents and wished them success in their further work.
“A gesture of the hard-working residents of Herceg Novi, whom I want to thank for a cute doll with my name. I see it as a way of congratulating me on my English PEN award,” Mr Nikolaidis says.
He also says he hopes Herceg Novi residents had a really good time today, “at least as good as I had”.
“Like they say, there’s a fire between us. It’s a kind of a public lynching, which I definitely prefer over classic one. In that name, I thank, toast and wish the carnival crew all the best and many more successful bonfires.”
