Vukicevic and Zogovic to step down from Govt.

Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Milun Zogovic and Transport Minister Maja Vukicevic announced they will resign from the government after their party’s initiatives were not taken up by the cabinet.

The Democratic People’s Party (DNP) had demanded that the government open initiatives on the constitutional status of the Serbian language, dual citizenship, the use of the historical tricolour flag, and a comprehensive dialogue on the status of Zeta, including the Botun wastewater project. Although Prime Minister Milojko Spajic expressed understanding, he said these issues should be addressed by Parliament, not the government.

After the cabinet declined to act on the initiatives or forward them to Parliament, Zogovic confirmed that both he and Vukicevic will submit their resignations, fulfilling DNP’s earlier warning that it would withdraw from the government if its demands were not supported.
